Jesus the Rock:

Math 16:18. And I also say to you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
This passage is said to prove that Peter was the rock upon which Christ would build His church, yet Peter himself taught that Christ was the foundation rock of the church. ( 1 Peter 2:5-8 )
Paul said the same ( Eph 2:19-20 ) He gave all the apostles equal place in the church “building”. Christ was the chief cornerstone. Peter was never told he was the cornerstone. He was simply one of the “stones” along with the other apostles.
In the above passage Jesus called Peter “Petros” ( Greek ), Which means a stone or a piece of rock. ( Strongs Greek dictionary ). He was not calling Him a foundation rock. The word He used for the foundation of His church was “Petra” which means “a ledge of rock”. ( Liddell and scott’s Greek Lexicon ) a fixed immovable rock but Petros, a piece of rock.
In Math 16:16 Peter just confessed that Christ was the Son of the living God and Christ was responding by saying in affect, This is the rock I will build my church, That is Himself, Christ the Son of the living God. The church is build on Christ the true foundation Rock and not upon a man who was to denied Christ 3 times.
The Rock is Jesus, “the Son of the living God”, something no mortal man can ever be.
1Cor 3:11. No other foundation can anyone lay which is Jesus Christ.
1Cor 11:3. Christ is the head of every man.
