Life in Christ.
Very Rev. Patrick M. J. Clancy, OP. 1955. Section 37. Page 243.
THE THIRD COMMANDMENT:
Remember thou keep holy the Sabbath day.
Q12. Why did the Church change the Lord’s Day from the Sabbath to Sunday?
The Church, using the power of binding and loosing which Christ gave to the pope, changed the Lord’s day to Sunday because it was on Sunday (the first day of the week) that Christ rose from the dead and the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles.
NOTE: The Commandment concurring the Sabbath Rest commandment is the 4th and NOT the 3rd.
