Conservative Protestants differ in their stance on the issue of abortion. Some permit it in cases where the pregnancy was initiated through rape or incest. At the other extreme, some believe that abortion is never warranted, even to save the life of the woman.
Adventists believe:
While the Adventist Church is not the conscience of individual believers, who may be faced with difficult dilemmas and decisions regarding a pregnancy, the Church affirms the sanctity of life and biblical principles bearing on abortion. Human beings are created in the image of God. Part of the gift that God has given humans is procreation. This sacred gift should always be valued and treasured. Every pregnancy should be wanted and each baby should be loved, valued and nurtured, even before birth. As a commandment keeping people, Adventists believe the 6th commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.”
